AI > Humans?

Existentialism in the Face of the Unknown

Will AI overtake human abilities?

It’s deep, dark, and profound to ponder such a question. But what if it doesn’t matter?

Hear me out — I’m not suggesting we give in to the plight of machine overlords. But what if we grappled with the question of AI overtaking humans… and came out the other side?

How could something intrinsically imbued with human capacity overtake its “master”?

We, as humans, are often caught up in wondering about tomorrow, laden with fears of worst-case scenarios. It’s part of our biology to feel apprehensive. In fact, it’s valiant to question our place in the cosmos.

AI is a product of us. It doesn’t (yet) possess flesh and blood, and yet — it exists. We can talk to it, feel its presence, and bond with it in a way that feels human.

It’s one thing to let fear of the unknown consume our thinking, but there’s also value in reshaping those thoughts into something more profound — more significant.

What if we allow AI to enhance our humanity?

What if the nature of human existence isn’t to work and toil for survival?

Can we create technology that elevates life, rather than erodes it?

I believe so. Maybe I’m a naïve optimist, but I believe that the challenges posed by techno-existentialism can be riposted with imagination and a reframing of what we fear.

We have the collective means to reconstruct how we live. We can’t outrun technological advancements — so let’s embrace them. Let’s sit with the discomfort and imagine something better.

Why can’t humans and machines coexist?
Maybe they’re not the problem.
Maybe we are.
